IGCSE Marine science 4.3 photosynthesis

The igcse syllabus on section 4.3 states that :*

1 describe photosynthesis as the process by which some organisms make glucose from carbon dioxide and water using energy from light, releasing oxygen as a by-product

2 state that chlorophyll is a green pigment that transfers energy from light into energy
in organic chemicals, for the synthesis of carbohydrates

3 describe a producer as an organism that makes its own organic nutrients, generally
using energy from sunlight, through photosynthesis

4 state that, in the marine environment, photosynthesis takes place in different groups of organisms

5 state the word equation for photosynthesis

6 investigate the effect of light intensity on the (PA) rate of photosynthesis in an aquatic plant or
macroalga

7 state that productivity is the rate at which producers transfer energy into carbohydrates

8 outline the importance of local upwellings to the productivity of organisms in coastal marine
ecosystems

This section shares a LOT with IGCSE Biology section 6, so if you do Biology as well, this is a good chance to use your skills.

My section for Biology chapter 6 covers some of those things as well.

The AS level also covers this part, but in a different way:
